What is Reiki?
Reiki- (pronounced “ray-key”) comes from two Japanese words, “Rei” meaning-spiritual wisdom, God-consciousness and “Ki” meaning life force energy. Although we know hands-on healing has been around for at least two thousand years, it was more recently rediscovered by a Japanese man, Dr. Mikao Usui. Dr. Usui spent his life in God’s service caring for others, studying and standardizing this healing art for the purpose of teaching it to as many as possible so the masses would have access to it.

Rei – The wisdom of The Spirit, God’s own consciousness, this is the knowledge and understanding of all things. It knows each individual completely. It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows how to heal them.

Ki – The life force energy is also known as Chi. This vital life force is the energy that animates all living things. It is what “brings to life “ our physical body. If your life energy is low or if it’s flow is obstructed, you are more vulnerable to illness, disease, weakness, and breakdown. The God consciousness guides this energy during healing. Strong life force energy promotes a sense of peace, hope, joy, etc. It directly affects the quality of your health.
What to expect in your session
Most Reiki sessions last approximately an hour. There is no reason to undress, however, dressing for comfort is a plus. You will be asked to take off your shoes and also any jewelry and metal that you are able to remove. Reiki is administered through very light touch on the energy fields known as chakras. This is typically done while you are laying down comfortably. Most people tend to fall asleep during their session. There is no massage involved. Reiki treatments promote healing and work well with other forms of healthcare that you may be receiving. It is not meant to be a replacement for medical treatment or advice.
